2008 Bottle Rocket Review
Let me start this off by saying WOW. Not only does this bike look hot but riding it makes you feel like city rat chowin’ down in the back of a Chinese restaurants dumpster, just loving life! Reviewing bikes can be difficult due to the infinite variety of set up options so Ill just lay it down real quick for all yall, Marzocchi 55 ATA fork, DHX 5.0 coil, saint cranks, single ring up front, big ole Deity riser bars, Transition 36 Revolution wheel set, and the rest doesn’t really make a difference. Being up here in the city of Salt we have a good variety of dirt to shred my new whip on. The first day I took it to the ever-classic bobsled run where I swear the bottle rocket just dominated. The low stand over of the frame allows for amazing angulations on the berms and the bike is able to accelerate out of those turns like none other. This bike likes to be pumped off of everything and any chance it gets to take flight its on it. This bike is more comfortable in the air than wonder woman’s invisible plane. Now I know this trail is so smooth it will make anyone’s hoopdie ride feel like butter. That ride was sweet but it still wasn’t enough to convince me so the next day I took it to the gnarly rocky punch you in the face Little Cottonwood trail. I slammed this bike all the way down the canyon bumping over everything I saw and even things I didn’t. The bike has a pretty low bottom bracket which definitely took some good hits in the rock gardens but as long as you watch your pedals and invest in a good bash guard your good to go. Sometimes the low BB can seem nemesing with low rollover clearance but that’s what gives it the stability and a lower center of gravity which lets you take your turns faster. Hit some medium 7 foot drops and the bike took it like a dream, never bottomed out or even felt squirrelly. I’d have to say that this bike is the best thing I have put between my legs in a while. If you like riding trails, catching air, going fast, and straight killing it the bottle rocket is for you.
